“Four seasons in a day” is often used to characterise Melbourne – and there were six or seven experienced in the latest round at Whittlesea.
Hujakate and Mike Sheahan were joined by Tony’s Solomon Islands mate Mark after Dunnngo succumbed to corporate perceived pressure. A few spits of rain accompanied the opening tee shots, starting a bizarre cycle of on-off wet weather gear and sunshine that punctuated the entire round.
Mark was dubbed “Chipmaster” after an uncanny series of sublime chips within a foot or two of the hole. Huja produced trademark schizophrenic golf to birdie the par 5 4th yet butcher any number of other shots. Sheahan squandered a superb tee shot at the par 3 8th to 3-putt from 6 feet. But the day produced two clear highlights.
At the par 5 11th, the longest hole on the course, Mark ripped a huge drive to the fat side of the fairway then a stunning fairway wood to have an eagle chance from 6 feet. It came to a heartbreaking conclusion….

Then at the 12th, despite good contact, Sheahan skimmed his drive straight into the edge of the swamp in front of the tee. Hilarity ensued as Sheahan’s feet sank every time he tried to address the ball….

Despite being five shots up with four to play…. Mark collapsed, Huja finished relatively strongly and the spoils were shared between the two.
