The best and worst of COD action was on display Sunday as Hujakate, Dunnngo and Mike Sheahan battled it out in the Royal Trentham Challenge.
The weather gods shone as a slightly chilly beginning gave way to a glorious day in this glorious part of the world. It was a topsy turvy round where one player then the next would take turns to shine on each hole. After 9 holes, it was Dunnngo leading the way with a 46, followed by Hujakate on 50 and Sheahan with 51.
In this clip at the 12th, we see the difference between Huja’s driver and Dunnngo’s 4 iron….

By the 14th, Huja had whittled the lead to just a couple of strokes. Sheahan had already holed out when the two leaders went head to head with the putter….

Nice try. Now Hujakate….
The hyena is back!!! (Narrator : He never shut up all day).
It was all square standing on the 18th tee – and it was Dunnngo whose Norman-esque hat morphed into Norman-esque disappointment as his wild tee shot put paid to his chances. Hujakate duly parred to take the honours on the day. A couple of par 3s with trademark course management helped give Sheahan a respectable pair of 51s.
Final scores:
Hujakate 93, Dunnngo 96, Mike Sheahan 102.
What does this all mean for the COD in Tocumwal? With the absence of Nifty and such wildly variable form, it’s anybody’s Green Jacket for the taking!
