Under the Presidential auspices of Indahouse, COD 2019 was held on the beautiful Gold Coast with superb CODommodation sourced at the Palm Meadows resort.
Codsters filed in on the Thursday with a pre tournament meal being had at the Broadbeach Tavern. Hujakate didn’t disappoint by ordering a seniors meal of rissoles, while experienced Queenslander The Elegance ensured he wasn’t going to get dehydrated over the course of the weekend.
Day 1 – The Glades
It was then down to business on Day 1 at The Glades. Hujakate kicked off the tournament (click to enlarge).
Strong driving from Dunnngo.
Indahouse gets spooked by noise in the gallery.
Here The Elegance, displaying a level of sartorial elegance to put Ian Poulter to shame, uses his recovery club to recover from the middle of the fairway….
In fact, it could be said that he’s a huge wrap for the recovery club. Trusting there’s a bucket of sand on the cart.

It was a tough day at the office for most Codsters and the inevitability of the eventual winner was already apparent….
Day 2 – Tallebudgera
This was a far friendlier course than The Glades and Codsters revelled in the conditions. The less said about customer service at Tallebudgera the better. Disgraceful.
Nifty employs some course management around the tee marker. “Joyous to watch” was the comment from the gallery. Comment, Wally May.

De Huge commentates his own tee shot.

Mike Sheahan gets his drive past the water in an ominous sign for the Auld Mug.
At the end of the second day, Nifty had the Green Jacket all but sewn up – but the Auld Mug was a different story. After a steady couple of days, Dr Tushy was still in front – but thanks to a shocker at The Glades blowing out his handicap, Mike Sheahan had carded a net 52 to zoom into calculations.
Another relaxing night at Broadbeach Tavern featured much big screen sporting action. The Elegance’s Power beat North Melbourne, Iggy’s Pies obliterated the Crows and Dunnngo abandoned his mates to watch the All Blacks flog the Wallabies (click to enlarge).
Day 3 – SurfersParadise
Another picture perfect day on the Gold Coast as the field teed off at Surfers Paradise. A nice “middle ground” course – not a goat track and not as tough as the resorts.
It was Nifty’s Green Jacket to lose as he teed off.

Indahouse is never short on club head speed.

The Jill Peters Gazebo was a highlight (click to enlarge). $2800 for one of these in your backyard seems more than reasonable.
What a wonderful backdrop for a man who clearly doesn’t give a tinker’s cuss.

Mike Sheahan was on fire (relatively speaking) – here he made a mockery of the nearest-to-pin marker…. then drained the putt for birdie!

A fine effort resulting in the Auld Mug….

Of course, Nifty won the Green Jacket by the length of the Flemington straight.
But by far the biggest performance of the weekend was Iggy Pop walking the course each day while seriously ill. We all miss you, mate.
