The final event of 2016 was fought out at Royal Yarrambat on Friday December 29. A deceptively warm day with some relieving breezes made for good conditions.
As always at Yarrambat, there were the customary large galleries….
Tony invited his “beginner” mate Dean along. Dean had only played a handful of times before but with plenty of free advice from Tony (loosely called “coaching”), he proved to be a bit of a natural and carded a very respectable 112. No socks on course though, as Tony pointed out – imagine getting course fashion advice from Tony….
I couldn’t repeat my sub century heroics from last year and carded a 106 – but finishing with a par on the rating 1 18th made the beer taste that bit better.
Tony has some ridiculous bet with Phil that he can have less putts in a round than Phil using this ridiculous piece of apparatus. Shouldn’t be allowed on course; it’s a miracle he shot 94….
But it was Fabulous Phil who showed all the benefit of not having a job and being able to play very regularly. Like good umpires at the football, you didn’t realise what he was shooting until adding up at the end his…. 79. Here he is overcoming the mental scars of having to slum it away from The National and play a temporary green to EAGLE the par 4 2nd.
