There’s nothing better than seeing top players reduced to mere mortals like you and me. The recent British Open at Carnoustie showed that things can go wrong for even the greats when placed under COD-like pressure.
It was the very first hole of the tournament for one of the favourites, Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy, and he very nearly drove the green. But the Buninyong-like rock hard fairway saw the ball roll and roll and roll…. into the sand. Awkward shot.
Of course, he plopped it on the green an 2-putted for par. Bastard.
Mega mulleted Englishman Tommy Fleetwood took an eternity over this shot which has spooked many a CODster. Who amongst us would rifle this into the wall of one of the bunkers and straight back?
With precious little backswing and not much green to play with, Justin Rose faced this classic bunker shot.
Twice….
Double bogey taken – and he finished two shots adrift of the winner, Italy’s Francesco Molinari. If only Justin had seen this masterclass from the COD’s very own Sandman, Hujakate…. (video)
Classic Hujakate scrambling! Think we need some bunker play more like the majority of Codsters and Justin Rose, taking two, three or four shots to exit the beach 🙂
Cheers all and thank you again McAlmanac for keeping the COD alive during the “off” season.
